In Spain began the project SAFERPLAY
ALICANTE, 19.01.2016. – At the headquater of the Research center for toys and products for children and entertainment AIJU (Instituto Tecnológico especializado en juguete, producto infantil y ocio) was held kick-off meeting of the partners in project SAFERPLAY with the participation of Ivan Ambroš and Zrinka Tomić from Vukovar-Srijem County Development Agency Hrast Ltd.

On the first day in AIJU center were defines details of the project, teams at work packages and analyzed the potential risks in the implemetation of the agreed futher action. The second day at the University of Alicante was held workshop on ICT tools that will be developed during the project.

Main goal of SAFERPLAY (Innovative training on design, installation and maintenance of safe and and challenging play ares) is to improve safety courses that will remain in this challenging and demanding for the purpose of physical and ental development of children. Idea for this project arose due to the fact that children and young people are often not involved in the spatial planning of cities and municipalities and therefore are often playing in poor and unsafe conditions. In the EU number of injured children (0-14 years), including injuries caused by poor equipment and conditions, reached 137.000 and it was serious reason for this project.

This project is being carried out in six coutries: Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal, Czech Republic, Germany and Croatia. Conducted by: Research Center Aiju and University of Alicante (Spain), Association for children's games and products Play England in London (United Kingdom), Faculty of Architecture, Prague (Czech Republic), Institute for Lifelong Learning FORTIS-fakultas in Chemnitz (Germany) and Vukovar-Srijem County Development Agency Hrast Ltd.

The main results of the project will be:
·         Making SAFERPLAY materials to design safe and demanding space and products for playing (including playgrounds, streets, parks, etc.) which will contain all the necessary information on how to place the game should look like in order to meet the safety criteria.
·         Making SAFERPLAY materials for setting up and maintaing courts in accordance with European safety standards which will be available to everyone on the website.
·         Development of software for the safe operation of the courts in accordance with European safety standards.
·         Development SAFERPLAY online platform by model „Massive Open Online Course“ which will be available also and in Croatian language.

Project duration is 30 months and the total value of the project is € 313.636.

Vukovar-Srijem County Development Agency Hrast Ltd. participate in project in order to improve safety conditions of playgrounds as well as development of new wood products to equip courts in accordance with the highest European standards.
